Charity Commission Reg. No. 236897

Wells United Charities has been in existence for well over one hundred years and is an amalgamation of six charities; Revd. Mungo Moray, Christopher Ringer, Ann Tidd, William Branch Elliott, Fuel Allotment and Emma Haycock. These six charities were set up for the relief of poverty and education/training for people resident in Wells-next-the-Sea.

The current criteria for the allocation of the two grants is:-

Heating Allowance:

Applicants must have lived within the parish of Wells-next-the-Sea for over ten years, do not own their own property and are over 70 years of age.

Education Grants:

Students must have lived in the parish of Wells-next-the-Sea for at least five years, have attended Alderman Peel High School and are going on to further education. The grants are made to help with the purchase of books and or travel costs.

The application forms can be downloaded from the below link, they will also be available from David Jagger’s Chemist Shop in Staithe Street and the completed forms should be delivered to David Jagger’s Chemist Shop.

The capital base of the charity is quite modest so the trustees are actively fund raising to enable them to make small grants to local people. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and if they are gift aided this would enable the charity to recover a further 25p in each £1 donated. There is a link below to the charity’s gift aid form.
