My name is John Land.

My ties to Wells, it started in the war years when we went to stay with my Aunt Alice (Mrs V Sampher then living in Elgars Row as her husband (Val) was in the army, but due to an accident I stayed with Dr Hicks in his house.

My family ties are as follows. My Grand father Mr James T Howard was born on East Quay and stayed there until moving to Thorpe Hamlet Norwich and worked as a fireman on the railway. His wife Francis Dack also had relatives in Wells. My mothers older sister lived at Church Plain , next door to the bakers .
